Explained for Children

Historical Background
John wrote this gospel around 90 AD. It was directed at a community of believers facing persecution and loss after the death of Christ. The verse reflects on the disciples' sorrow at Jesus’ impending departure, offering hope in his promised return.
Living It Out Today
Think about when you lost something important to you. Perhaps it was a job or a relationship. Remembering this verse can remind us that even though we might be sad now, there is always the possibility of joy and happiness returning, stronger than before.
