Nehemiah 6:9
Bashkir 2023 (Изге Яҙма)
What Does This Mean?
Nehemiah is speaking here, addressing God. He is talking about how his enemies were trying to discourage and weaken him and his people from rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. He asks God to strengthen his hands, meaning to give him the strength to continue the work despite the threats.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're building a big sandcastle, and some kids come by and say, 'You'll never finish your castle!' They want you to give up. But you say, 'God, help me keep building my castle, no matter what they say!' That's what Nehemiah is doing here.
Historical Background
Nehemiah wrote this in the fifth century BCE, while he was leading the reconstruction of the walls of Jerusalem. The Jews had returned from exile, and they faced opposition from neighboring groups who didn't want them to rebuild the city.
Living It Out Today
In a modern scenario, imagine you're starting a new business and your competitors are spreading rumors that you'll fail. Instead of giving up, you can ask God to strengthen you, just like Nehemiah did.
