Judges 8:10
Bashkir 2023 (Изге Яҙма)
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes the situation where Zebah and Zalmunna, leaders of a powerful army, were in Karkor with about fifteen thousand soldiers. This was all that remained of their army after losing a hundred and twenty thousand men in battle.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you had a big group of friends playing a game, and then many of them had to go home. Now you and your remaining friends are left playing, just like Zebah and Zalmunna with their smaller group after losing many of their friends in a big fight.
Historical Background
The Book of Judges was written by various authors, possibly including Samuel, and compiled around the 6th century BC. It was written to show the people of Israel how they should follow God, and this particular verse shows the aftermath of a battle where the Israelites, led by Gideon, defeated a much larger army.
Living It Out Today
In today's world, this verse reminds us that we don't always have to be the biggest or strongest to succeed. Gideon and his small group defeated a larger army with God's help. This can inspire us to trust in a higher power when facing challenges that seem too big.
