Historical Background
Isaiah wrote this around 700 BC, during a time when the people of Israel were trusting in their own strength and alliances rather than in God. The covenant they believed in was based on false security, and Isaiah warned them this would lead to their downfall.
Living It Out Today
Today, someone might think their lies and deceit will protect them from the consequences of their actions. Isaiah’s message reminds us that ultimately, truth and God’s justice cannot be escaped.
