فَقَدِ احْتَلَّ مُرْدَخَايُ الْيَهُودِيُّ الْمَرْتَبَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ بَعْدَ الْمَلِكِ أَحَشْوِيرُوشَ، وَتَمَتَّعَ بِمَكَانَةٍ مَرْمُوقَةٍ بَيْنَ الْيَهُودِ، وَكَانَ يَحْظَى بِرِضَى أَغْلَبِيَّةِ أَبْنَاءِ قَوْمِهِ، فَهُوَ لَمْ يَدَّخِرْ جَهْداً مِنْ أَجْلِ خَيْرِ شَعْبِهِ والدِّفَاعِ عَنْ مَصَالِحِ أُمَّتِهِ.
