John 10:32
Arabic SVD 1865 Version (Smith and Van Dyke)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from John's Gospel, Jesus is talking to some people who want to stone him. He asks them why they are doing this when he has done many good things for them.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your friend did lots of nice things for you but then got upset and wanted to throw stones at you. That would be silly, right? Jesus is asking the people who want to hurt him why they're doing that when he's only tried to help.
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written around 90-100 AD by an anonymous author believed to have been a disciple named John. The audience included both Jews and early Christians living in the Greco-Roman world, where stoning was a form of execution for certain crimes or offenses.
Living It Out Today
When someone does something nice for you but then you end up feeling angry at them anyway, it's worth asking yourself why that might be. Are your feelings based on something else? Maybe you're frustrated about other things and taking it out on the wrong person.
