Isaiah 6:2
Arabic SVD 1865 Version (Smith and Van Dyke)
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes the seraphims, which are angelic beings, that were above the throne of God. Each had six wings: two to cover their faces, two to cover their feet, and two to fly. The seraphims are praising God in the presence of His throne.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're in a big, beautiful castle with a king on his throne. Above the king, there are special creatures with wings. They use some of their wings to cover their faces because they're so close to the king, and others to fly around and do their job of praising him.
Historical Background
The book of Isaiah was written by the prophet Isaiah around 700 B.C. This chapter describes his vision of God's throne room. The audience was the people of Israel, and it was meant to reassure them of God's holiness and power during a time of political turmoil.
Living It Out Today
Think about a time when you felt unworthy or scared to approach someone important. This verse reminds us that the angels who are closest to God cover themselves in respect and awe. It's a reminder to approach God with reverence and respect.
