Acts 12:10
Arabic SVD 1865 Version (Smith and Van Dyke)
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes Peter's miraculous escape from prison. An angel leads him through two security posts and an iron gate that opens on its own, allowing them to walk out into the city. The angel then leaves Peter.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're locked up in a big castle with lots of guards. Suddenly, your friend appears and takes you past all the guards without being caught. You go through two doors and an iron gate that opens by itself! Once you're free outside, your friend disappears. That's what happened to Peter, but it was really God helping him!
Historical Background
The Book of Acts was written by Luke, a physician and companion of Paul, around 60-80 AD. It documents the early Christian church and its growth despite persecution. The passage describes events during Herod Agrippa I's reign in Judea.
Living It Out Today
Just as God helped Peter escape from prison, He can help us overcome our challenges and fears today. For example, if you're facing a difficult situation at school or work, remember that just like the iron gate opened for Peter, there might be an unexpected way out of your problem.
