John 15:24
What Does This Mean?
Jesus is speaking and saying that if He hadn't done such extraordinary miracles among the people, they wouldn’t have had reason to sin by hating Him and His Father. But since He did these works, their hatred shows their real sinful nature.
Explained for Children
Imagine you see a magician do amazing tricks, but instead of being impressed, you decide to dislike both the magician and his teacher because of those tricks. Jesus says that's what some people are doing with Him and His Father.
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written by John, one of Jesus' disciples, around 90-100 AD. This verse is part of a larger discourse where Jesus speaks to his disciples about their relationship with him and the world's rejection.
Living It Out Today
If someone refuses to accept clear evidence or proof you present them with good intentions, it often reveals more about their heart than your presentation. For example, if you show kindness and love but still receive contempt, reflect on what that might indicate about the other person’s state of mind.
