John 11:44
Arabic SAB (الكتاب الشريف)
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes the moment when Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. After being brought back to life, Lazarus is still wrapped in graveclothes and a napkin covering his face. Jesus tells those present to free him from these bindings.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you were playing hide-and-seek, but instead of hiding, you fell asleep under a blanket that was so big it covered your whole body! When someone found you, they'd need to help you out by taking off the blanket. That's kind of like what happened with Lazarus; Jesus brought him back from being dead, but he was still wrapped up tightly in his burial clothes!
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written around 90-100 AD by John, one of Jesus' disciples. The audience consisted mainly of early Christians who needed to understand the depth of Jesus' power and identity as the Son of God. In that time period, the burial practice involved wrapping bodies in linen cloths.
Living It Out Today
Imagine you just got out of a tough situation where it felt like your spirit was dead inside due to overwhelming challenges or sorrow. Once you're free from the struggle, people around you might still see you bound by lingering fears and doubts; they need to help you let go of these constraints and embrace new life.
