Jeremiah 19:8
Arabic Simplified (الكِتاب المُقَدَّس: التَّرْجَمَةُ العَرَبِيَّةُ المُبَسَّطَةُ)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God is speaking through the prophet Jeremiah, saying that He will make the city of Jerusalem desolate and a place of astonishment and hissing because of the many plagues that will come upon it.
Explained for Children
Imagine a playground where all the fun equipment is broken and nobody plays there anymore. Everyone who walks by just shakes their heads and says 'tsk tsk' because it used to be so much fun. That's kind of what God is saying will happen to Jerusalem.
Historical Background
Jeremiah wrote this verse around 600 BCE during a time when the Kingdom of Judah was in decline. The message was directed at the people of Jerusalem, warning them of the consequences of their disobedience to God.
Living It Out Today
Imagine a city that was once full of life but now stands empty and desolate. This can be a reminder for us to avoid actions that can lead to regret and desolation in our own lives, such as neglecting our responsibilities or turning away from what's right.
