Arabic Simplified (الكِتاب المُقَدَّس: التَّرْجَمَةُ العَرَبِيَّةُ المُبَسَّطَةُ)
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Ezra says that God commanded through his prophets that the land the Israelites were going to possess was unclean because of the people living there and their bad practices. God is warning about the uncleanness that fills the land from end to end.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're going to a new house, but the house is very dirty because the old people who lived there left a mess everywhere. God is telling the Israelites that the land they are going to is like that dirty house, and they need to be careful.
Historical Background
Ezra, a priest and scribe, wrote this book around 450 BCE. It tells the story of the Israelites returning from exile in Babylon to rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple. The prophets mentioned here are earlier messengers of God who warned about the uncleanliness of the land.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse can remind us to be cautious about the influences around us, especially when entering new environments or communities. We should be mindful of what we bring into our lives and how we can keep our own lives clean and pure.
