ولَمْ يَتَنبَّهْ عَمَاسَا للسَّيفِ الَّذِي كَانَ فِي يَدِ يُوآبَ اليُسْرَى، فطعَنَهُ يُوآبُ بِالسَّيْفِ فِي بَطْنِهِ، فَوَقَعَتْ أمعَاؤهُ عَلَى الأرْضِ وَمَاتَ بِطَعنَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ. ثُمَّ بَدأ يُوآبُ وَأخُوهُ أبِيشَايُ بَحْثَهُمَا مِنْ جَدِيدٍ عَنْ شَبَعَ بْنِ بِكْرِي.
