وَفِي فَتْرَةِ حُكمِهِ، أعَادَ حِيئِيلُ البَيتُئِيلِيُّ بِنَاءَ مَدِينَةِ أرِيحَا. وَعِنْدَمَا بَاشَرَ العَمَلَ فِي وَضْعِ أسَاسَاتِ المدينةِ، مَاتَ ابْنُهُ البِكْرُ أبِيرَامُ. وَعِنْدَمَا وَضَعَ حِيئِيلُ أبوَابًا لِلمَدِينَةِ، مَاتَ ابْنُهُ الأصغَرُ، سَجُوبُ. حَدَثَ هَذَا تَحْقِيقًا لِمَا قَالَهُ اللهُ عَلَى فَمِ يَشُوعَ بْنِ نُونٍ.
