Jonah 2:3
Arabic Bible Life (Targamet El Hayah) (LA)
What Does This Mean?
Jonah is speaking from inside the fish and he's thanking God for saving him after being thrown into the sea. He describes the deep, vast waters surrounding him and how God was there through all of it.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing in a big pool, but suddenly you get stuck underwater and feel scared. Jonah felt like that, but much worse because he was actually thrown overboard by his friends into a huge sea! He thought he would drown, but then God helped him out with a fish.
Historical Background
The book of Jonah is believed to have been written around the 8th century BC. It tells the story of Jonah, who was commanded by God to go and preach in Nineveh, an Assyrian city known for its wickedness. Instead of obeying, Jonah tries to run away but ends up inside a fish after being thrown overboard.
Living It Out Today
When facing difficult situations where it seems like there's no way out, this verse shows us that God is always present and can save us, even from the depths of despair or challenges we face today, like financial troubles or health issues.
