Ezekiel 8:11
Arabic Bible Life (Targamet El Hayah) (LA)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, Ezekiel describes seeing seventy elderly men of Israel with censers, which are like little pots for burning incense. Jaazaniah, the son of Shaphan, is among them. The burning incense creates a thick cloud. This scene shows the religious rituals and the presence of key figures in the temple.
Explained for Children
Imagine you and your friends holding little pots with special smoke coming out, like when you light a candle with a sweet smell. In this story, Ezekiel saw some important old men doing something similar, and there was so much smoke that it looked like a big cloud!
Historical Background
Ezekiel, a prophet, wrote this during the Babylonian exile, around 593 BCE. He was addressing the Israelites, who were in captivity in Babylon. This chapter describes a vision given to Ezekiel by God, showing him the sinful practices of the people in the temple.
Living It Out Today
Today, this passage reminds us of the importance of sincere worship. Just like the incense was a physical act, our actions and intentions in worship should be genuine and not just showy rituals. Consider how you can make your faith practices more heartfelt.
