Numbers 31:41
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that Moses gave a special offering to Eleazar the priest, just as God had instructed him. Moses was following God's command to give a portion of the tribute to the priest.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a piggy bank where you save some of your allowance. Now, your parents ask you to give some of that money to help someone in need. Moses did something similar by giving a special offering to the priest, just as God told him to do.
Historical Background
The book of Numbers was written by Moses around 1400 BC. It was written for the Israelites, who were wandering in the wilderness after leaving Egypt. This verse reflects the practice of offering a portion of the spoils of war to the priest, as commanded by God.
Living It Out Today
In a modern context, this verse can remind us of the importance of giving a portion of what we have to help others, just as Moses gave a portion of the tribute to the priest. For example, setting aside a part of our income for charity can be a way to follow this principle.
