Nehemiah 7:60
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that there were 392 Nethinims and children of Solomon's servants. The Nethinims were people assigned to serve in the temple, and Solomon's servants were descendants of those who served in the temple during Solomon's time. The verse provides a count of these people who were dedicated to temple service.
Explained for Children
Imagine if a big school had special helpers who kept the library neat and tidy. This verse is like a headcount of those special helpers in a big, ancient temple. There were 392 of them!
Historical Background
Nehemiah wrote this book in the 5th century BC, recounting his return from Babylon to Jerusalem to rebuild the city walls and restore the community. The Nethinims and Solomon's servants were groups of people who were responsible for various temple duties, providing a sense of continuity in temple service.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse reminds us of the importance of dedicated service within communities. Just as these people were committed to serving in the temple, we can find ways to serve our communities and organizations with a similar level of dedication.
