Luke 23:40
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse comes from the story of Jesus' crucifixion. One criminal, who was being crucified alongside Jesus and another criminal, rebukes the other for speaking harshly against Jesus. He points out that they are all in similar situations before God.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing a game where everyone is on the same team but one of your friends starts saying mean things about someone else. Another friend tells them to stop because they're all part of the same team and should be kind, just like what happened here with Jesus and the two criminals.
Historical Background
The Gospel of Luke was written by Luke, a companion of Paul, around AD 60-75 for a Gentile audience. This passage is set in Jerusalem during Passover, where religious and political tensions were high, especially against Roman authorities.
Living It Out Today
In today's scenario, if you're at work and see a coworker mistreating another employee unjustly, remembering this verse can remind you to step up and correct them, acknowledging that we all face similar challenges in our lives and should treat each other with respect.
