Leviticus 26:17
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse is God speaking to the Israelites. He warns that if they disobey Him, He will allow their enemies to defeat them, and they will run away even when there is no one chasing them.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you didn't listen to your parents and they said, 'If you keep doing that, I won't protect you from the bullies at school.' That's what God is saying here. He's telling the Israelites that if they don't follow His rules, He won't protect them from their enemies.
Historical Background
Leviticus was written by Moses around 1446-1406 BCE. It contains laws and instructions given by God to the Israelites. This verse is part of a list of consequences for not following God's commands.
Living It Out Today
Today, this verse can remind us that our choices have consequences. For example, if we neglect our health, we might get sick more easily. Similarly, in our faith, if we ignore God's teachings, we might find ourselves in difficult situations.
