Job 22:13
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Job, Eliphaz is speaking to Job, challenging Job's belief that God doesn't know or see what's happening on Earth. Eliphaz questions how God can judge or know things if He's hidden behind a dark cloud.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing hide and seek, and you think your friend can't find you because they're hiding behind a big cloud. Eliphaz is saying, 'How can you think God can't see you or know what's happening, when He's like the sun behind a cloud?'
Historical Background
Job is part of the Old Testament, written around the 6th century BC. It presents a dialogue between Job, who is suffering, and his friends who are offering their interpretations of why he's suffering. The book is set in a time when people were trying to understand the relationship between human suffering and God's justice.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse can remind us not to underestimate God's awareness or judgment when we face difficult situations. For example, if someone loses their job and starts to feel God has forgotten them, this verse encourages them to remember that God is always present and aware of their circumstances.
