Ezra 10:19
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes a group of people who agreed to separate from their wives because they had married foreigners, which was against God's command. They also offered a ram as a sacrifice to show their repentance.
Explained for Children
Imagine you made a mistake, like taking a toy that doesn't belong to you. To say sorry, you give the toy back and also bring a special gift to show how sorry you are. That's what these people did, but with their marriages and a ram as a gift.
Historical Background
This verse is part of the book of Ezra, written around 450 BCE. It was written by the prophet Ezra, who led a group of Jews returning to Jerusalem from exile. The book describes how these people struggled to obey God's laws, especially about not marrying foreigners.
Living It Out Today
Today, this verse reminds us to take responsibility for our mistakes and to be willing to make changes, even if they are difficult. For example, if someone realizes they have been lying, they should stop and apologize, just as these people agreed to separate from their wives.
