Exodus 7:22
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that the Egyptian magicians were able to replicate the miracle of turning water into blood using their own magic. Despite this, Pharaoh remained stubborn and did not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had predicted.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you and your friends made a magic trick and showed it to your teacher. Your teacher was surprised but still didn't believe you. That's what happened here. The Egyptian magicians did a trick, but Pharaoh didn't listen to God's message anyway.
Historical Background
This part of Exodus was written by Moses around 1446-1406 BCE. It describes the events leading up to the Israelites' liberation from slavery in Egypt. The audience would have been the Israelites, and the cultural setting was one of conflict and divine intervention against a powerful kingdom.
Living It Out Today
Sometimes, no matter how clear the evidence is, people can still be stubborn and refuse to listen. In a modern context, this can apply to people who refuse to change their behavior despite clear signs or advice, like ignoring health warnings or not accepting constructive criticism.
