Deuteronomy 26:6
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes how the Egyptians treated the Israelites badly by making them work very hard and suffer. Moses is speaking, reminding the people of their history of oppression in Egypt. The key message is about remembering the hardships and the deliverance from them.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you were playing with your toys and a big, mean kid came and made you clean up their mess instead. That's kind of what happened to the Israelites in Egypt. They had to do all the hard work that the Egyptians didn't want to do.
Historical Background
Deuteronomy was written by Moses around 1250 BC. He was speaking to the Israelites on the brink of entering the Promised Land. The Israelites had been slaves in Egypt for generations, and this verse is part of Moses' reminder of their history and journey to their children.
Living It Out Today
Just as the Israelites needed to remember their past struggles to appreciate their freedom, we can also reflect on our hardships to better appreciate our current blessings and work towards supporting those still facing challenges.
