وَكانَ الكَهَنَةُ وَالَّلاويُّونَ مُنقَسِمينَ إلَى فِرَقٍ لِكُلِّ واحِدَةٍ مِنها وَظِيفَتُها الخاصَّةُ. فَطَلَبَ المَلِكُ حَزَقِيّا إلَى هاتَينِ الجَماعَتَينِ أنْ تَستَأْنِفا عَمَلَهُما ثانِيَةً. فَاسْتَأْنَفَ الكَهَنَةُ وَالَّلاويُّونَ تَقدِيمَ الذَّبائِحِ الصّاعِدَةِ وَذَبائِحَ السَّلامِ. وَكانُوا يَقُومُونَ بِوَظِيفَةِ الخِدمَةِ فِي الهَيكَلِ وَالتَّرنِيمِ وَالتَّسبِيحِ عِندَ أبوابِ بَيتِ اللهِ.
