فَقالَ عَزَرْيا رَئِيسُ الكَهَنَةِ – وَهُوَ مِنْ بَيْتِ صادُوقَ – لِلمَلِكِ: «مُنْذُ أنْ بَدَأ الشَّعبُ بِإحْضارِ التَّقدِماتِ إلَى بَيتِ اللهِ، صِرْنا نأكُلُ حَتَّى الشَّبَعِ، وَمازالَ لَدَينا فائِضٌ كَبِيرٌ مِنَ الطَّعامِ. لَقَدْ بارَكَ اللهُ شَعبَهُ حَقّاً. وَلِهَذا لَدَينا فائِضٌ كَثِيرٌ.»
