1 Kings 11:9
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse says that God was upset with King Solomon because Solomon stopped following God even though God had appeared to him twice before. It shows the consequences of turning away from God despite knowing His will.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a best friend who has shown you lots of love and told you to make good choices. But then you start ignoring your friend and making bad choices. Your friend would feel sad and angry, just like God felt about Solomon.
Historical Background
1 Kings was written by several authors around 550 BC, detailing the history of the kings of Israel and Judah. This verse is part of a narrative about King Solomon, who was known for his wisdom but also his many marriages to foreign women who led him away from God.
Living It Out Today
In today's world, if someone who has been warned about the consequences of certain behaviors still chooses to ignore those warnings, they can expect negative outcomes. For example, a young adult who knows the risks of substance abuse but chooses to use drugs anyway can face serious health and relationship issues.
