Judges 6:2
Arabic Bible AVDDV 1999 (الكتاب المقدس (تخفيف تشكيل))
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes how the Midianites oppressed the Israelites so much that the Israelites had to hide in the mountains, caves, and strongholds to protect themselves. It tells us about the hardships the Israelites faced and their need for safety.
Explained for Children
Imagine you and your friends are playing in the park, and suddenly some bigger kids come and chase you away. You run to the nearest playground and hide in the bushes or behind big trees to be safe. That's like what happened to the Israelites, but with enemies called the Midianites. They had to hide in the mountains and caves to stay safe from the bad guys.
Historical Background
The Book of Judges was written by various authors, possibly including Samuel, around the 10th century BCE. It was written for the Israelites to understand their history and the consequences of their actions. The cultural setting was a time of turmoil, with many foreign oppressors.
Living It Out Today
Think of a time when you faced a tough situation and had to find a safe place to hide or regroup. This might be a difficult class at school where you need to study extra hard or a situation where you need to take a break to recharge. Just like the Israelites found safety in the mountains, we can find our own safe spaces to regain strength.
