Judges 3:8
Arabic Bible AVD 1999 (الكتاب المقدس)
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that because the Israelites disobeyed God, He allowed them to be captured by a foreign king named Chushanrishathaim. They had to serve him for eight years. This happened because God was angry with their behavior.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your parents got really upset because you didn't listen to them. They might let someone else take care of you for a while to teach you a lesson. That's kind of what happened to the Israelites, but with a king named Chushanrishathaim.
Historical Background
The book of Judges was written by various authors, possibly Samuel, to document the history of the Israelites between the death of Joshua and the rise of kings in Israel. This particular verse was written to remind the Israelites of the consequences of not following God's commands.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse can remind us that our actions have consequences. If we choose not to follow God’s guidance, we may face difficulties or challenges. For instance, if someone continually chooses to ignore advice from a mentor or friend, they might find themselves in tricky situations.
