Genesis 43:24
Arabic Bible AVD 1999 (الكتاب المقدس)
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes how Joseph's steward, after bringing Benjamin and the other brothers to Joseph's house, provided them with water to wash their feet and food for their donkeys. The steward's actions show hospitality and care for the travelers.
Explained for Children
Imagine you and your friends went on a long journey to visit a friend's house. When you arrive, the friend's helper brings you inside, gives you water to wash your feet, and feeds your bicycles (pretend they're like the donkeys). This shows the friend really cares about you and makes sure you're comfortable!
Historical Background
Genesis was written by Moses around 1440-1400 BC. The audience was the Israelites, and the cultural setting was the ancient Near East, where hospitality to travelers was a significant cultural value.
Living It Out Today
Today, we can apply this verse by showing kindness to visitors and travelers in our homes. For example, if a friend from out of town visits, we can offer them refreshments and ensure they feel welcome.
