فَأَخَذَ ابْنَهُ الْبِكْرَ الَّذِي كَانَ سَيَمْلِكُ بَعْدَهُ، وَقَدَّمَهُ ضَحِيَّةً عَلَى سُورِ الْمَدِينَةِ. فَارْتَاعَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ جِدًّا مِنْ هَذَا الْعَمَلِ، وَانْسَحَبُوا مِنْ هُنَاكَ وَرَجَعُوا إِلَى بِلَادِهِمْ.
