فأَتى جادٌ إِلى داوُدَ وأَخبَرَه وقالَ لَه: «أَتأتي علَيكَ سَبعُ سِني مَجاعةٍ في أَرضِكَ، أَم تَهرُبُ أَمامَ أَعْدائِكَ ثَلاثَةَ أَشهُرٍ وهم في إِثرِكَ، أَم يَكونُ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامِ طاعونٍ في أَرضِكَ؟ ففَكِّرِ الآنَ وٱنظُرْ فيما أُجيبُ بِه مُرسِلي مِنَ الكَلام».
