وَكُنْتُ أُقَدِّمُ لَهُمْ يَوْمِيًّا لِيَأْكُلُوا ثَوْرًا وَسِتَّةَ خِرَافٍ وَبَعْضَ الدَّوَاجِنِ عَلَى حِسَابِي. وَبَعْدَ كُلِّ عَشْرَةِ أيَّامٍ كُنْتُ أُقَدِّمُ لَهُمْ جَمِيعَ أنْوَاعِ النَّبِيذِ بِكَمِّيَّاتٍ كَبِيرَةٍ. وَرُغْمَ هَذَا لَمْ أُطَالِبْ بِحِصَّةِ الوَالِي مِنْ طَعَامِ النَّاسِ، لِأنَّ العَمَلَ كَانَ مُرهِقًا لِهَذَا الشَّعْبِ.
