Arabic 2016 (الكِتاب المُقَدَّس: التَّرْجَمَةُ العَرَبِيَّةُ المُبَسَّطَةُ)
What Does This Mean?
This verse is Mordecai speaking to Esther. He tells her that if she stays silent now, help will come from elsewhere, but her family will be destroyed. He also suggests her rise to power was for this very moment to save her people.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing hide and seek, and you know where your friend is hiding. If you don't tell the others, someone else might find them, but you could get in trouble for not helping. Esther's friend Mordecai is telling her that she needs to help her people, just like you should help your friend in the game.
Historical Background
The Book of Esther was written to recount the events leading to the Jewish festival of Purim. This passage is set in the Persian Empire during the reign of King Ahasuerus. It reflects the tension between the Jewish community and their adversaries, particularly Haman.
Living It Out Today
Imagine you are the only one who knows about a safety hazard at work. If you stay silent, someone else might notice it later, but you could be in trouble for not speaking up. Esther’s story encourages us to take action when we have the ability to make a difference.
