وَخَلَعَ آسَا أُمَّهُ مَعْكَةَ كَمَلِكَةٍ أُمٍّ، لِأنَّهَا نَصَبَتْ عَمُودًا بَغِيضًا إكرَامًا للإلَهَةِ عَشْتَرُوتَ. وَهَدَمَ آسَا عَمُودَ عَشْتَرُوتَ وَكَسَّرَهُ تَكْسِيرًا، ثُمَّ أحْرَقَ أجزَاءَهُ فِي وَادِي قَدْرُونَ.
