فَكَانَ عَدَدُ الَّذِينَ اختِيرُوا لِيَكُونُوا بَوَّابِينَ عِنْدَ العَتَبَاتِ مِئَتَيْنِ وَاثنَيْ عَشَرَ، وَسُجِّلُوا وَفْقَ سِجِلِّ أنْسَابِهِمْ فِي قُرَاهُمْ. وَقَدْ عَيَّنَهُمْ دَاوُدُ وَصَمُوئِيلُ الرَّائِي فِي هَذَا العَمَلِ لِأنَّهُمْ كَانُوا جَدِيرِينَ بِالثِّقَةِ.
