Amharic Bible (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ (የብሉይና የሐዲስ ኪዳን መጻሕፍት))
What Does This Mean?
In Esther 9:15, we learn that on the fourteenth day of the month Adar, the Jews in Shushan came together and fought against their enemies, killing three hundred people. However, they did not take any of the possessions of those they defeated.
Explained for Children
Imagine a big playground where kids sometimes fight. On one special day, the good kids joined forces and stopped the mean kids from causing trouble. They made sure the mean kids couldn't hurt anyone else, but they didn't take their toys or snacks.
Historical Background
The Book of Esther was likely written in the 5th century BCE by an unknown author. It tells the story of how the Jewish people were saved from a plot to destroy them. The audience was primarily the Jewish people who were living under Persian rule.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse can remind us to stand up against injustice and protect others without seeking personal gain. For example, if a group of students sees a bully at school, they can intervene to stop the bullying but not to boast or take the bully's things.
