Numbers 3:25
Amharic New Standard Translation (አማርኛ አዲሱ መደበኛ ትርጉም) 2005
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Numbers explains that the sons of Gershon were responsible for taking care of the tabernacle, its tent, covering, and the door curtain. This was part of their duties in the tabernacle of the congregation.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a big playhouse in the backyard. The Gershon family was in charge of making sure the playhouse was clean and safe. They had to take care of the tent, the big cover on top, and even the curtain at the door, just like you'd take care of your playhouse.
Historical Background
The Book of Numbers was written by Moses around 1400 BC. It was part of the instructions for the Israelites on how to organize their community and religious duties as they wandered in the wilderness. This verse specifies the roles of the Gershonites within the Levitical service.
Living It Out Today
Just as the Gershonites were responsible for maintaining specific parts of the tabernacle, in modern life, we have roles and responsibilities in our homes, workplaces, and communities. This can be as simple as taking care of your room or as complex as managing a project at work.
