Explained for Children
Imagine you're moving your tent to a new place in the backyard, and you decide to build a special spot to thank your parents for taking care of you. That's kind of what Abram did, but he built his special spot to thank God for taking care of him.
Historical Background
This verse is part of the book of Genesis, which was written by Moses around 1446-1406 BC. It was written for the Israelites who were about to enter the Promised Land, giving them a history of their ancestors and their relationship with God.
Living It Out Today
Just as Abram set up a place to worship God in his new home, we can also set aside a space or time in our daily lives to remember and thank God, showing our commitment to him wherever we are.
