Mark 3:4
Amharic Gofa 2011 (The Word For The World International) (Gofa New Testament)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Mark's Gospel, Jesus asks the religious leaders if it is right to do good or evil on the Sabbath day, and whether it is better to save a life or kill someone. They did not answer him because they were unsure of what he was asking.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing a game where you can only make one move all day long. Jesus asked some grown-ups if it's okay to help people in this game, or if it's better to do mean things. He wanted them to think about whether they should be kind and save someone or not.
Historical Background
This verse is from the Gospel of Mark, written around 70 AD by John Mark, a follower of Peter. It was aimed at early Christians, many of whom were Jewish converts who struggled with how to observe Sabbath laws in light of Jesus' teachings.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, imagine a scenario where an employee must decide whether to help a customer on the weekend when they're not officially working. This verse suggests that doing good and helping others is more important than following rigid rules.
