Jeremiah 2:13
Amharic Gofa GFBEVF (ጌሻ ማፃፋ)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God is speaking through the prophet Jeremiah, saying that His people have done two wrong things. First, they have abandoned God, the source of life and living waters. Second, they have turned to other sources of help, which are useless and cannot provide any real help.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a magical water bottle that gives you all the energy and happiness you need. But instead of drinking from it, you throw it away and try to get water from broken cups that can't hold any water at all. That's what God is saying about His people in this verse.
Historical Background
This verse is from the book of Jeremiah, written by the prophet Jeremiah in the 6th century BC. It is addressed to the people of Judah, warning them about their unfaithfulness to God and the consequences of turning away from Him.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse can apply to someone who turns away from God and relies on temporary solutions like drugs, alcohol, or material possessions to find happiness. These cannot provide lasting fulfillment and will only lead to disappointment.
