Hebrews 9:28
Afrikaans (NLV) 2011
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Hebrews tells us that Jesus Christ was offered once to take away the sins of many people and will come back again for those who are waiting for him without any sin, leading them to salvation.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a friend named Chris who promised to clean up your room as a favor. He did it once, making everything tidy. Now he promises to visit again when your room gets messy again and will make sure it's even cleaner the second time around. That’s like what Jesus does for us.
Historical Background
The Book of Hebrews was written by an unknown author around 60-95 AD, addressed primarily to Jewish Christians living in Jerusalem or Rome. The audience faced persecution and needed encouragement about the finality and superiority of Christ's sacrifice over Old Testament sacrifices.
Living It Out Today
Consider a scenario where you are preparing for a job interview. Just as Jesus will appear again to those who look for him, you can prepare and look forward to that moment with confidence, knowing your efforts have been focused on achieving salvation through faith in His sacrifice.
